Man charged with double murder
Following months of investigation, the St Andrew South police have made a breakthrough in the probe into the double murder of a man and a child on Grenmeade Road, Kingston 20, on September 15, 2025.
Forty-year-old Courtney Ashley, otherwise called 'Blood Stain', of Red Hills Avenue in St Andrew, has been charged in connection with the murders. Ashley was arrested on January 12, by the St Catherine South police at Phoenix Park Village in Portmore. He was pointed out at an identification parade on Monday, and subsequently charged with murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition on Tuesday. His court date is being finalised.
According to information from the Duhaney Park police, the incident occurred at 7:15 p.m. Twenty-five-year-old Kimarley Powell, otherwise called 'Beans', a business operator of Grenmeade Road, Kingston 20, and two-year-old Tajuan Jackson of Grandridge Path, Nannyville, Kingston 3, were reportedly among a group of people sitting on a bench in a section of the community. Reports are that a motor vehicle drove up and stopped, after which an occupant opened gunfire. When the shooting subsided, Powell, Jackson, and another man were found with gunshot wounds.
They were taken to the hospital, where Powell and Jackson were pronounced dead. The other man was admitted in stable condition.
